Scalloped cake with roses

Because of everyone’s busy schedule, we didn’t really celebrate Mother’s Day with my in-laws. Instead, we combined Mother’s Day and Father’s Day together and had a big get together later on. Not sure what to write on the cake, I decided to fill the center with gumpaste roses instead.

I wanted to try scalloped cake edges, so I went with frosting instead of fondant. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the right frosting tip, so I just cut a hole in the piping bag and used it without a tip. Next time I’ll get a tip for it, so that the scalloped pattern looks more even.
